conclusions in general, it seems that three-month exercise training was effective in reducing cardiac mitochondrial pro-apoptotic protein. however, considering the results of the bcl2 gene expression, more researches are needed to identify effects of exercise trainings on indices of myocardial apoptosis. objectives the aim of this study was to assess the effect of exercise training on bcl-2 and bax genes expression as key molecules involved in intrinsic pathway of apoptosis in the rat heart. materials and methods this study was conducted with a two-group experimental design (animal model) and sixteen three-month-old male rats were selected and randomly divided to two groups of exercise training (n = 8) and control (n = 8). rats in the trained group participated in an exercise training program for 12 weeks (10 – 60 m min-1, 24 – 33 min d-1, 15%). the rat hearts were removed forty-eight hours after the last training session. rna extraction and synthesis of cdna was done, and bax and bcl2 genes expression was analyzed through the real time-polymerase chain reaction (rt-pcr). kolmogorov-smirnov and independent t-test were applied for statistical analysis of the data (p < 0.05). results the results showed that bax gene expression and bax/bcl2 ratio of the trained group were significantly lower than the control group, 81% and 89%, respectively (p < 0.05). moreover, there was no significant difference between the two groups in bcl2 (p > 0.05). however, bcl2 expression was higher in the trained group compared to the control group (11%). background apoptosis or programmed cell death plays an important role in the development of cardiovascular diseases, particularly heart failure. current evidence suggests that exercise training may alter apoptosis-related signaling in sensitive somatic tissues such as the myocardium.

Effect of Exercise Training on Tropomodulin-2 Gene Expression in Cerebellum of Diabetic Rats

Objective: It is well documented that exercise training (ET) imposes beneficial effects on diabetes mellitus and its complication such as diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN). Regarding the importance of tropomodulin-2 (TMOD2) in nervous system plasticity, this protein may be recognized as a candidate mechanism for ET-induced neuroplasticity. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects...

SYNERGISTIC EFFECT OF HIGH INTENSITY INTERVAL TRAINING (HIIT) COMBINED WITH CURCUMIN ON BAX AND BCL-2 GENE EXPRESSION IN SOLEUS MUSCLE OF DIABETIC RATS

Background: Imbalance of apoptotic factors plays important role in pathogenesis of diabetes. Considering the role of curcumin supplementation and high-intensity interval training (HIIT) on these factors, the aim of this study was to investigate effects of four weeks of HIIT with curcumin supplementation on Bax and Bcl-2 gene expression in the soleus muscle of diabetic rats. Methods: Present st...

The Effects of Aerobic Exercise in Sprague Dawley pregnant Rats on vascular BCL-2,BAX AND eNOS Gene Expression in adult male offspring

Background: One of the most growing diseases is the onset of atherosclerosis which can be started from a fetal age. As a result, the intrauterine environment plays a role at risk of spreading this disease. Changes in vascular function considered to be as an indicator for vascular disease. Effective factors on vascular function are enzyme eNOS and apoptotic regulator factors included BCL-2 an...

The Effect of Cadmium on Apoptotic Genes mRNA Expression of Bax and Bcl-2 in Small Intestine of Rats

Background: Cadmium is a potent toxicant and carcinogenic in human and experimental animals. The evidence indicates that cadmium induces aberrant gene expression, inhibition of DNA damage repair, and apoptosis. In this study, we investigated the effects of IP (intraperitoneal) injection of cadmium on mRNA levels expression of Bcl-2 and Bax genes in rat small intestine. <s...

The effect of monosodium glutamate on rat thymocyte proliferation and Bcl-2/bax protein expression

Introduction: Monosodium glutamate (MSG) is one of the commonest food additives in modern nutrition. Recent studies showed the modulatory effect of MSG on rat thymocyte apoptosis in vivo and under in vitro conditions. However, the influence of MSG on thymocyte proliferation is largely unknown. Material and methods: We evaluated the effect of increased MSG concentrations on thymocyte proliferati...
